Let’s face it. You and I and everyone else, we eat all the time.
We might sit down to a meal with friends or family or strangers or alone. We might eat at home or we might eat out. The food might be home-cooked, pre-cooked, or chef-cooked. We might be omnivores or vegetarians or vegan, or have any number of food constraints for a whole lot of different reasons. It really doesn’t matter. What matters is that eating well, feeling well-nourished and joyful about our food, is soul-satisfying. And if we do that in a way that supports our communities, even better.
When we take care with our bites and pours, we leave the table feeling good. For that moment, all is right in the world.
What to expect from Trusted Tables in 2025
In 2025, let’s find more joy in our food. Because it matters.
For our part, Trusted Tables will share insights and helpful hints about eating and drinking with joy and care. We’ll share stories about:
restaurants that are doing something special, whether they are in Miami or Martha’s Vineyard or other places around the country and the world
home cooking that captures something special
chefs and what they that are thinking about
farming – and why that matters
food history. The past is always in the present and the connections tell their own story.
A big thank you to all you eaters out there!
To all you subscribers who allow me to send you emails 2 – 4 times a month, a heart felt thank you! I love uncovering stories to share with you and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
If you have any ideas or feedback for me, please share.
If any of you have something you want to share with others about a trusted table of your own, I’d love to hear from you. I welcome other voices in this newsletter, other perspectives, other insights.
And, in case you missed it:
Since our launch a little over a year ago, Trusted Tables has posted 49 articles. We covered notable restaurant experiences, what’s going on in the wine world, cool drinks to make, how to eat with locals when you travel, a few stand-out recipes and what food trends are happening right now.
Postings came from Scotland and Greece, Napa Valley, Miami, and Boston and Martha’s Vineyard and Washington DC.
I loved co-writing articles with Suzanne Flanders on Martha’s Vineyard and Ray Loggins, in Dallas.
And there’s that hilariously informative video of Kate Morris making chowder from the famous Black Dog Tavern on Martha’s Vineyard. If you missed it, take a look. It’s funny and mouth-watering, particularly if you are a chowda’ lova.
Readership has grown steadily and about 70% of you typically open the articles I post.
I’ve loved the challenge of starting this newsletter and hope you have loved – or at least liked – the content.
